THE STORY OF MOIFAA FARM

A Name With History

Our farm is named after Moifaa, a New Zealand-bred racehorse with one of the most incredible stories in racing history. In 1904, Moifaa and his breeder (Kaaren’s great-great uncle, Spencer Gollan) survived a shipwreck on their voyage to England.

Against all odds, Moifaa went on to win the Grand National at Aintree and became a favourite of King Edward VII, even pulling the King’s casket through the streets of London years later.

Black and white photo of a man in a coat and bowler hat holding a horse by the lead, standing in front of a brick building with window shutters.

When we bought our Tamahere property in 2021, we thought it only fitting to honour that legacy.

Like Moifaa, our farm carries a sense of resilience, beauty, and quiet strength, a reminder that every journey leaves its mark.
